EV chargers are mainly divided into AC EV chargers and DC EV chargers.
AC EV charger
The AC EV charger is an on-board charger that transmits the alternating current from the power grid through the internal control and protection device, and through power conversion and other links, with appropriate alternating current parameters (voltage, frequency, etc.) to the electric vehicle. The on-board charger, then converts the alternating current. Charge car batteries with DC power. This is like an intelligent power adapter, which ensures that the power from the grid can be safely and appropriately transmitted to the car.

DC EV charger
DC EV chargers rectify the alternating current from the power grid into direct current, and directly charge the power battery of the electric vehicle. Its working process includes processing the input AC power through rectifiers, filters and other circuits inside the charging pile, converting it into stable DC power, and then delivering the DC power to the car battery through the charging gun. There will also be a control and protection system in the middle. Adjust charging power and monitor battery status.

AC EV chargers generally have lower power (3.5KW, 7kw, 11kw, 22kw) and longer charging times. DC charging piles (30KW-240KW) have higher power and charge faster. EV chargers installed at home are generally AC EV chargers, while areas with heavy traffic in public places have more DC EV chargers.
Need to be noted during the charging process.
The EV charger has high power and high voltage. The following things need to be noted during the charging process.
The first is the charging environment. Charge in a well-ventilated area, as the battery may generate heat during charging, and if ventilation is poor, heat accumulation may cause safety issues. At the same time, avoid charging near moisture, fire sources or flammable objects to prevent fires.
The second is charging equipment. Use charging piles and charging cables that meet vehicle specifications. Inappropriate equipment may damage the battery or prevent it from charging properly. And check regularly whether the charging equipment is damaged, such as whether the outer sheath of the charging cable is damaged, etc.
In terms of vehicle status, it is best to turn off high-power electrical equipment in the vehicle, such as air conditioners, audio, etc., before charging the vehicle. This can reduce the burden on the battery when charging. And if the battery power is too low or too high, it may damage the battery performance for a long time, so try to avoid this situation.
